Big Idea that drives Lesson/Unit:

My big idea is Health & Fitness. Its important for students to learn how to live
a happy and healthy lifestyle. Physical health and mental health are both equally
important and so Ive incorporated both into my curriculum. When I was in primary
school, we didnt have a specified health course other than gym class. I believe its
important to incorporate all groups of health into every grade level.
Key concepts about Big Idea:
I want my students to feel confident as well as challenged in my curriculum of
health and fitness,
Health is very important for a happy and healthy lifestyle.
Letting the students have an opinion in my curriculum instruction helps their
confidence and gets them more interested in the curriculum.
Key concepts about medium/technique (Aluminum Foil):
While most aluminum foil is employed in packaging, its many unique properties also
account for its use in literally hundreds of other applications.
In general, such food products as candies, milk, unsalted meats, butter and
margarine are compatible with bare aluminum. They also greatly benefit from its
opacity, which retards deterioration from exposure to light. Similarly, many drug and
cosmetic products are compatible with aluminum foil and also must be protected
from light.
Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice or discipline, which originated in
India. There is a broad variety of schools, practices in Hinduism, Buddhism and
Jainism. Among the most well known types of yoga are Hatha yoga and Rja yoga.
The Power of Yoga and your health:
1. Builds their confidence and self-esteem.
2. Improves their powers of concentration and focus.
3. Develops their brain and intellect.
4. Excellent for their bodies and health. Promotes balance, flexibility, coordination and
strength.
5. Helps them cope with stress and difficult emotions.
