Abstract

Education always starts in pre-kindergarten follow by more exciting years of learning and
teaching. As an educator, I follow the interest of children and families. I know that have to make
a great impact in their life especially at their young age. Educating children with the appropriate
practice and the right knowledge, children will grow to be ready for the next challenge this world
brings to them.

My beliefs of purpose in education is best said by John Dewey The general purpose of school is
to transfer knowledge and prepare young people to participate in Americas democratic society.
My role as a teacher is to always plan curriculums that follow the Illinois early learning
Standards and most important assess children on their needs. I will help the children develop as a
whole child. I will always reach my capabilities as educator and follow the early learning
standards and guideline that are used or follow in our program and state. In class and in the
center I have to work with coworkers, parents and children. I cant forget that in this field I am
required to teach as well as to learn from others. I have to keep in mind that not all children and
families are the same. I know I have to work with diversity in my classroom /centers. In part of
being a teachers I will be communicating with the director, coworkers and families to learn about
the different culture and believes that families in the center have. Gathering this knowledge is a
helping tool for teaching as well as to create a curriculum, activities that will help me and other
with the diversity in the classroom and center.
I and other colleagues believe that children learn by free play. The Philosopher Plato
recognized The different stages of children and proposed that curriculum should include games,
music, stories and dramatic play this would illustrate the values need by all good citizens (428348 B.C). In this field beliefs and bias opinions need to be put aside. I will maintain professional
and follow the NAEYC code of ethics. Personal believes can stop you from being open minded
and learn new greater things. Balancing the needs of individuals learners and the whole class
can be a big challenge but always possible. After assessing a child you have to create a plan that
suits the child and implement in the curriculum. As an educator and caregiver my goals are to
help the child grown in all three domains (Cognitive, Social/Emotional, Language and

Fine/Gross Motor Development). One of the greatest ideas I learn is to teach children about
global awareness. I will design a curriculum that talks about traveling the world making
passports, dress up in traditional attire, playing traditional music and instruments for circle time.
Last but not least my strongest help and resource is to build a strong relationship with the
community, families, colleagues and administration. Building this strong String will create a base
that will help the child and families grow in the primary stages of Learning. I believe that
everyones best interest is to get involved in the child development. I want every child in my care
to be ready for what the world and Society has to offer for their better growth.
