Barangay
Ramon
Magsaysay,
Municipality of Bobon, Province of
Northern Samar, created the Barangay
Nutrition
Committee,
as
the
appropriate body to plan, implement in
as much as nutrition program is

The Barangay Nutrition Committee
(BNC) believes that nutrition is a basic
component of human life; many
people do not get enough food to eat.
Malnutrition causes weakness and
diseases accounting to death in under
five children.

In effect, proper nutrition is very

important for growth and development
of
individuals
particularly
the
vulnerable
groups;
infants,
preschoolers,
school
children,
pregnant/lactating

Thus
nutrition

II. SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS

A. Over-all Description of the Barangay
1. History of Barangay Ramon Magsaysay
The place is situated along Pacific Coast with its outlying
low hills extending to the interior. It was a place to be
interested since during those times there were only few
houses own by a few people who were farmers, road
workers, and tuba gatherer. As years go by population in
said community were observed and one among those who
reside on this place was a former kapatas and a good
informant in the person of AGPITO ENERO SULA families
and many others who come to reside the place which the
later call SIGAD why such name, because they taught it
to be the right pace since the most of the resident resides
the road, seldom could you see houses in the inner part of
the place.
On the other side of the story, when Luis Celespara
donated land for school site of primary school, which later
become popular when the school was opened, and the first
teacher were Miss Amparo Madeja and later the former
Miss Julia Paredes, started the basic education Curriculum,
they name the school DUCE primary school, basing the
concept that the that the road from Carangian (presently
known as San Jose) where the only road use the travelers

to go to Manila. It is 12 kilometers away from the place;

they based the place as Kilo Metro Duce.
It was then 60s and the present Ramon Magsaysay
Primary School turned to time was a National Election
where a helicopter landed in the premises of the school
going down was the Senatorial Candidate GENARO
MAGSAYSAY, who was able to talk to former Miss Amparo
Gallanes now Bohol promise her to help incumbent mayor

B. Nutrition Situation
Malnutrition has been found to be caused by
inadequate food supply and low income or purchasing
power; sometimes both factors are compounded by
diseases which reflect the inadequacies of the
community environment and services. An analysis of
the
development
indicators,
educational
level,
predominant type of occupation and food supply may
serve as necessary exercise in establishing a more
realistic understanding of the nutrition problems of the
areas. The available information, past planning,
implementing experiences and resources available are
the most important factors to consider.
Malnutrition takes the heaviest toll among vulnerable
age groups, especially pre-school children and school
age children, as well as among pregnant and lactating
mothers.
Program implementation will therefore give priority
to this group, In terms of geographical implementations;

it will be given to nutritionally depressed barangays with

children identified as severely underweight.
Based on this promise, the annual nutrition action
plan was formulated. As such it is necessary that this
plan be realistic, feasible, operational and tailored to the
particular needs of each barangay. This is composed of
two parts, the narrative presentation and tabular
presentation of data with their accompanying worksheet
to support the narrative portion.
Nutrition deficiency maybe moderated if people know
how to better use resources already available because
malnutrition is not only caused by economic poverty,
but also by the poverty of knowledge. More educated
parents are in a better position to make wiser decision
than less educated. The nutrition intervention programs
are the immediate approaches to alleviate malnutrition.
Funds will release for food assistance targeting the
identified malnourished preschool children, school
children, pregnant and lactating mothers.

C. CONCLUSION/RECOMMENDATION
The Barangay Nutrition Action Officer (BNAO) and the
members of the BMC take the pride and honor in
accomplishing this BNAP of the barangay to fulfill not
only for our countrys commitment, for the global
movement to end the twin problem of hunger and
malnutrition, but also for our commitment to help
improve the nutritional wellbeing of the constituents we
serve. To improve the quality of life of the people who
live in this barangay is a continuing multi-sectored
cooperation. Thus, NUTRIRION ADEQUACY FOR ALL can
be achieved. We should join hands with the other
sectors to free from the chain of HUNGER AND
MALNUTRITION. Let us commit ourselves to stronger
partnership with various sectors to emphasize the
importance of collective actions to push aggressively
the nutrition programs and services; it lays the
foundation for a strong and productive municipality and
a nation as a whole, coupled with strengthen FAITH and
HOPE.
It is therefore recommended that funds, material and
other expenses be given priority for effective
implementation of Nutrition Program, and also a
PLANTILLA position for MNAO/BNAOs be given
consideration.
