Jesus said our witness, our

credibility to the world, is
demonstrated by our love for
each other. There is no greater
witness to the genuineness of
our gospel. Think about it. If,
because of Christ, people of
different races could live out a
model of reconciliation that
has not been attained by any
other force, the world would
have to ask, Why?

RACIAL RECONCILIATION: TAKE ACTION GUIDE

Taking ActionIt really boils down to Integral Mission
The practice of integral mission plays a large role in the living out of racial reconciliation. Integral
mission encapsulates both the proclamation and demonstration of the Gospel. The premise behind
integral mission is that faith without works is dead. (James 2:14-26) The work of racial reconciliation is
an example of integral mission as it is demonstrates loving ones neighbor. If the Church is to have a
living faith, one that loves its neighbors, then racial reconciliation is necessary as it unites the Church as
one body and seeks shalom for all Gods people.
Here are some steps for how we can take action to engage in racial reconciliation today:

Befriend
-Relationship building is a key component of racial reconciliation. When we engage in
relationships with our brothers and sisters of different ethnicities we are given deeper insight
into who they are and how they live, thus giving us a deeper sense of empathy.
Engage
-Engaging in the lives of others is a conscious decision to share their burdens,
hear their stories, and love them well.
Listen
- By simply listening we are given a chance to hear the stories of others and
furthermore allow ourselves to gain deeper insight and perspective to areas of
life that we have not experienced ourselves.
Love
- Our greatest command is to love God and love others. Love transcends beyond
mere words of affirmation, however, but rather it flows into our actions and
way of life. By choosing to love our neighbors in thought, word, and action we
enter further into the call Jesus has given us.
Speak
- Use your voice for the voiceless. This can be as simple as speaking up when
racially biased comments are made towards a certain ethnic group, or as bold
as advocating for policies that seek justice for the racially oppressed.
