Organization: Squads (5 predetermined squads) 2 rows of 3 to 5 students per court side 4 teams in rows of 3 to five on each court Assessment/Evidence of Mastery: Informal assessment will take place during the lesson where teacher will walk around to assist students. During closure assessment of understanding will take place by asking students questions. Key vocabulary targeted: (CCR) Needed equipment and Set-up: volleyball nets Call the ball- got it or mine volleyball poles Where is the target?- setter 12 volleyballs Pass Set Hit 12 poly spots Student leader card WHAT WILL YOU DO TO ENCOURAGE PA BEYOND THE LESSON? Students will be encouraged to practice at home against a wall or with a friend before game play starts the next week. CLASS MANAGEMENT: Student grouping mgmt.: Students will be told how many people need to be where and they will be responsible for getting that amount of people there Equipment mgmt.: Volleyball nets will already be set up. Students will be responsible for grabbing and putting away volleyballs Mgmt. routines: Students are expected to sit in squads for roll call and for the warm-up activities. When the whistle blows, students are expected to be quiet with eyes on the teacher holding any equipment they may have CONTENT SEQUENCE: Opening/Anticipatory Set: Introduction of student leader. After our warm-up, we will practice our pass to target drill that we did earlier in the week. Today our focus will be on using the skills we have learned so far in a game-like situation of Fear Queen.
Introductory Activity/Warm-up segment:
Fitness Development segment: Up & backs/sit-up and push-ups In squads, students will run from one line with one student from each squad at a time performing different locomotor movements sprints, high knees, butt kickers, power skips, grapevine. Student will then spread out their lines to perform 20 sit-ups and 10 push-ups lead by student leader. Skill Development content: Pass to target drills Each person in the tossers line will have a ball. The first person in the toss line will toss the ball over the net to the passer. The passer will try to pass the ball to their target whom will catch the ball. Then the passer rotates to target position, the target brings the ball under the net to the end of the tosser line, and the tosser will go under the net to the end of the passer line. tossers

Game Content: Fear Queen
The first person in each row will come forward to face off 3 to 3. The tosser line will toss a ball over to any player on the other side. The two teams will play for a point. The team that loses the point will go to the end of their same lines and the winning team will stay out on the court. Then the new opponents will face off. tosser s

Closure/Lesson Summary: When a ball is served over the net, what is the ideal play situation? -1st person passes to the setter, setter passes to the hitter to hit over. If the setter is not able to get to the second ball, what is the team able to do?
