The point of the article is to discuss the new and improved SAT. The purpose of the
article is to debate whether or not the SAT is going to be better than the last one. They want to
see if the SAT will actually correlate with what is taught in school. The author is credible
because she is part of U.S. News which is a very big and credible news agency. The evidence
she uses in this article is quotes from important people regarding the SAT. She also gives links to
other pages that gives helpful information about the subject. She has a good voice throughout the
article. She is able to bring in a lot of other people and their opinions that gives a good
perspective of the subject. This wouldnt be helpful for many other subjects because it is a very
narrow minded topic. This will help me out a lot because it will be able to compare and contrast
what the old SAT and the new SAT are like. It will allow me to gain new ideas and points for my
essay.

The point of the article is to point out the flaws in the SAT. The purpose of the article is to
show how bad the SAT has become and that it needs to be taken out of the college application
process. The author is a writer for Penn Live, which is a big new agency in Pennsylvania. The
news agency is very reliable therefore the author is credible. The author uses logos in the article
by stating facts about the average student scores. She also talks about the ethics of the test itself
and that it tricks students into the picking the wrong answer. A rhetorical device used by the
author is her perspective. She is on the outside looking in. She hasnt taken the test in recent
years, so she doesnt have the inside view. What she does have is facts and scores. Which gives
me a different perspective on how I can write the paper. The article does address her subject and
covers it in many different ways. This article will be very good for my essay. It has a lot of
information in it as well as all kinds of information. I have different views and perspectives of
standardized testing. I think this will be a vital piece to help me create an excellent essay.

of the article is to debate whether or not the SAT is fair. What I gather from the reading is that it
is not. The purpose is to show both sides of the argument so the reader can make a well-rounded
opinion about the subject. The author is credible because she works for a well-established news
agency and gets paid to do her work. The evidence she uses to support her work are quotes from
influential people in the SAT process, from the present and past. She also makes connections
with the reader concerning what its like to take the SAT. She also puts in some results from
research done by other companies to get her point across. She gives a lot of different perspectives
because she wanted everyone to see both sides of the argument. She gave the reasons why the

SAT is fair and she also gave the reasons why the SAT is unfair. This article could work for some
other subjects, like the reason behind the SAT, the purpose of the SAT, and what the SAT is
actually measuring. This article does not give me direct ideas that I might put into my essay, but
it does give a couple of different perspectives that could enhance the quality of my essay.

very credible because she is a Doctor. She also works for Huffington Post, which is a very large
and reputable news agency. The author uses pathos and logos a lot throughout her article. She
uses a lot of numbers to display information about the SAT. She also makes an emotional
connection with the reader by telling a story of one her brightest students who scored low on the
SAT. This is a prime example of the SAT not being able to determine a students intelligence. The
tone of the article is power. When you read the article you feel as though she is making a
breakthrough with the SAT and its flaws. Everything she says has a magnitude to it and it all
seems very impactful to the reader. The article is very impactful for the subject at large. The
author went over and beyond when answering her own question at the beginning of the article.
This article will be a great source for my essay. It addresses so many points that I need and has a
lot of useful information. I cant really ask for much more from an article.

the article is to show that standardized testing does not accurately reflect a students intelligence.
The author is part of a student news site at a high school. The website looks very professional
which makes me believe the author is very serious about his work and is credible. The author
uses logos through numbers and statistics to get his point across. He also uses pathos by
connecting to the reader through similar age of the reader as well as similar experiences of the
reader. The author uses imagery in the article to paint a picture of the test taking room. The
author is trying to give the reader an inside look on the intense test taking conditions, where most
students struggle to cope with the harsh environment. This article is effective in covering the
topic given at the beginning of the article. The author gives a wide range of ideas and presents
them in a clean and concise fashion. The article addressed my individual essay as well. The
article will give a new perspective on the SAT/ACT as well as more facts to use throughout my
essay.

author is very credible because she works for the Huffington Post which is a very credible news
agency. The author puts in a little bit of facts to support her points, but most of her article is
based on the connection she makes with others. She makes a lot of connections with current
students because she can relate to a lot of them. This draws in a lot of readers to what she is
saying, since most of them have already been through this as some point in their life. The author
brings out a very good diction. She uses her words to convey a since of hope for many of the

students. She makes the students feel like they are not alone in the struggle of the SAT/ACT. This
article can work with a lot of other topics like student stress and the college admission process.
This article goes well with my topic because it discusses the validity of the SAT/ACT and how it
does not accurately reflect on a students intelligence.

which is a very large and reputable company. She uses a lot of logos through data and quotes.
She is able to be very persuasive through the use of these quotes. She is also able to use pathos to
connect with current students who are going through a rough time with SAT/ACT scores. The
theme of the article is very uplifting. She is able to give high school students hope for the future
because she tells them that SAT/ACT scores are not everything. This topic could be used for
many other topics like the college admission process and the importance of good SAT/ACT
scores. This article will go well with my topic because it will address the fact that SAT/ACT test
do not test a person accurately so thats why colleges dont examine the scores as much.

process. The purpose of the article is to show how the SAT is taking a vital role in the
degradation of the college admission process. The author is a credible author because she is a
writer for U.S. News, which is a very big and reputable company. She was also part of the

admissions team at Wake Forest University, where she had firsthand experience with judging
applicants based on their SAT scores. In the article, she talks about how Wake Forest decided to
make the SAT/ACT optional because it was not an accurate measuring tool for a students
intelligence. Jill Tiefenthaler sympathize with many prospective students with their common
belief that the SAT/ACT is a flawed tool. The mood of the article is a feeling of hope. A feeling
of a better future to come because people are starting to realize the SAT/ACT is flawed. This
somewhat addresses the terms at large because it goes into more depth about the admissions
process at Wake Forest and not so much about the SAT itself. This will be very effective for my
essay. It gives me a different view on the subject that I havent had before. I am able to see what
the colleges think about standardized testing and not just the everyday student.
