Vocabulary Project Ideas

Lessons 21-25
Instructions: Choose any project to complete with a partner. All of the projects will
require you to correctly use all fifty words from the assigned lessons. The words must
be highlighted in some way.
Creative Writing Projects
1. Write a narrative for each vocabulary lesson, which will equate to five narratives.
Each narrative must contextually use all the words from the corresponding lesson.
The narratives must adhere to the plot structure provided on this website:

templates must be submitted with narratives.
2. Make a childrens book; illustrate it too! Create a simple plot with a didactic
message. Although you must follow the plot structure provided with the narrative
instructions, it must remain basic. Try to keep your syntax simple, but engaging.
Also, illustrations must enhance facilitate in teaching the words. If you can draw,
please do so, but if clip art is your expertise, that will work as well. Any pictures

3. Make a newspaper. Consider topics that interest you and write newspaper articles
contextually using the vocabulary words. Feel free to be creative! Think of books
youve read and write articles about fictitious characters, a missing tragedy from the
Odyssey, or a catastrophic event in Narnia.
4. Film at 10. Write and film a new story. You may use an interview, docu-drama,
sports report, live on the scene reporting, special news bulletin, etc... Costumes and
props will add to the fun.

Logical/Mathematical Project
1. Create a digital game board using the directions from the last vocabulary
assignment.
2. Create a board game to learn the words, include instructions, game pieces, &
question cards. Use the directions from the last vocabulary assignment.
Visual/Spatial Project
1. Create a graphic novel that includes all the requirements listed in the narrative
instructions.
2. Use Animoto or Movie Maker to create a video teaching the words. If you use
Animoto, youll need to create a free account or ask to use the teachers account.

Kinesthetic Project
1. Create a Word Map for each vocabulary word. Use this link to find the template

2. Use a tri-fold poster board that has illustrations of the words and include
removable parts that help test your knowledge of the words and definitions.
Musical/Rhythmic Projects
1. Write and perform a traditional song with lyrics and a melody, a country western
ballad, a Rap song, blues melody, etc... The song must include and teach all words.
2. Use a popular TV show theme song and rewrite the lyrics to help you learn the
words. For example,Gillians Island or Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. There are many
websites with lyrics for TV show theme songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s
and today.
