This article was about a survey done showing that Nigerians are the most educated in

U.S. This article representing Nigerian-Americans in a great light was the perfect piece to add to
my Dear Young Girls letter. It was helpful to show young girls that you come from an
intelligent nation and you should be proud of it. This piece can help girls know not to believe the
discouragement of this nation and to stay strong in the face of defeat.

In this source, I was presented with examples of internal monologue. Internal monologue

essentially is you writing down your thoughts. The examples and guided questions helped me to
gain a deeper understanding of what I had to do for my genre piece. I began thinking and just
started writing my thoughts about a particular subject.

This representation of Nigeria presented me with statistics and facts that was also very

helpful in my Dear Young Girls letter. The facts show what an influential country we are in the
world. It also shows other countries that have influenced us and our power. This source can help
young girls continue to strive and achieve for the best. They see others like them and begin to
know that they are able to do anything they want.

In this article, the author presents a study on natural hair and the relation between self-

esteem in women today. Many women are transitioning from chemically treated hair to no
chemical treatment. This article presents the study done and how women with natural hair feel as
if they are not as pretty as women with chemically treated hair. They believe it is a style that
many deem as unattractive and unprofessional. The author clearly displays the study and the
results that were collected.

In this article on Nigerian Women and Their Struggles with Natural Hair is very accurate

and similar to women in American as well. The author presents their findings as they actually
travelled to Nigeria and collected comments from women living there. They associate natural
hair with poor standards and the failure to attract men. They are uneducated at times about
healthy habits and rely on alternative styles.
