ball may not move once
they catch the ball and must
remain stationary
4. Once tagged by the ball that
student must run a lap

playing area and re-join the

ball must sprint ahead of
the group to pass backwards
to the person next to them

4. Continue to pass down the
line to the final runner who
sprints forward and touches
down the ball
5. Continue drill from ending
position back to starting
position

1. In groups of 5, the ball will
start on the left side and
students will run forward
from the starting mark
2. The ball will be passed down
the line, only being passed
backwards
3. The last person to receive
the ball will run forward and
pass to the oncoming group
of 5 at the other end who
will complete the same drill

defender and 2 attackers
2. Attacker 1 starts with
possession of the ball and
runs forward forcing contact
or a touch from the
defender
3. Attacker puts the ball down,
dumps the ball, and step
over the ball
4. Attacker 2, the acting half,
scoops up the ball and
pretends to pass

1. In groups of 6, have 4
offensive players and 2
defensive players
2. Offensive players move the
ball down the field and force
the touch from the
defensive team
3. Offensive side drop the ball
and step over the ball

Modified Game- Set of 6
1. Divide class into even
teams, even split of genders
and abilities, bibs and nonbibs
2. Allocate offensive and
defensive sides
3. Offensive side starts with
possession of the ball
4. Team has 4 attempts to get
a try
5. 6 Touches before the end of
one attempt (4sets of 6
attempts)
6. After each attempt rotate
subs through both offensive
and defensive sides
7. After 4 attempts teams
swap positions- offence to
defence, defence to offence

Modified Game- 10v 10


1. Students remain in even
teams, bibs and non-bibs
2. Attacking side has 6 touches
to move the ball forward
and attempt a try before the
ball is turned over and the
defending side takes
possession
3. Defending team must retain
their 5m distance from the
tagged position
4. Team that scores the most
tries is the winning team
