From Your Pastor

It has happened again. Another month has flown by. I
was looking at my calendar this week, and when I got to
the month of May, I just went, Whew! It looks like
every day has another opportunity for all of us at Southside to help fulfill the Great Commission and make disciples. Ben Tinley and I were watching a webinar with
Thom Rainer who made this statement: The Great Commission has become the Great Omission. Very few of
our churches are doing a good job at making disciples. In
fact, 9 out of 10 churches in North America are either
declining or not keeping up with the growth of their communities. Sadly, I find that we are part of the 9, not the 1.
I am excited, however, that we are starting to see a turnaround at Southside. Our Sunday School and Worship
attendance are up slightly, but it is still too early to call it
a trend. Thats why the month of May is going to be so
important. It is packed with outreach and training opportunities that everyone can be part of. And here is the key:
we need you to be part of this. We need your help. Its
like the day the car in front of me died. I jumped out and
started pushing. It was hard. But then two other people
started pushing, and we moved that car off into a parking
lot with very little effort. The more that join us, the easier
the task becomes and the faster we see our church turn
around.
So keep watching for these opportunities, and come out
to help. If you cant physically get out to do outreach,
note the times that we are doing this and commit to pray
for us. If you can make it to the church, we can provide
some materials for you to send cards to visitors, prospects, and inactive members. Every member has a place
in this ministry; come find yours!
Remember, your pastor loves you.

Bro. Ben

Can you believe it's already May?? Spring

sports have started and another school year is
almost in the books! It's a busy time of year
and we have lots going on in the children's
department!
We only have a few Awana meetings left
before we break for summer. The children are
all working hard to finish their books before our awards night!
This year we will be celebrating our children and all that they have
achieved on Sunday evening, May 22nd at 6:00pm. I hope you
will all try to be in attendance as we congratulate them on another
successful Awana year!
With summer about to begin, that means that VBS is just around
the corner! If you haven't already decided where you will serve
this year, it's not too late! We need each and every one of you to
help us make this year's VBS the best yet! Pray for the children
that will be attending. Pray for the men and women who will be
sharing God's love with them during the week. And prayerfully
consider where you might jump in to help! I promise that you will
be blessed!
Wishing you a bright and joyful May!

Tanya
