DNA NANOPARTICLE RESEARCH

Researches have been trying to determine the
effectivity and applications of adding DNA
nanoparticles to vaccines

Researchers have determined that DNA

Nanoparticles can deliver antigen to the cells of
the immune system or act as a delivery system
but they are still discovering how these
additional particles change vaccine effectivity

BENEFITS
Researches are adding DNA nanoparticles into vaccinations that
have previously been ineffective due to lack of an appropriate
delivery system

These nanoparticles are used for vitro and vivo delivery of vaccines
Ability to control the effectivity and release rate of vaccines based on
the encoded DNA particles

More targeted Drug Delivery System to sensitive part of the body

such as the brain

CURRENT DISCOVERIES
DNA Nanoparticles have been effective in expressing the
desired protein in various vaccines such as the flu, different
cancer treatment vaccines, and tumor prevention shots

The various new vaccines to the drug are more effective than
the previous form of the vaccine which suggest improvement
from the added DNA nanoparticles

CURRENT DISCOVERIES
The use of Nanoparticles in
vaccines improves:
antigen stability
targeted delivery
Variable drug release
antigens mature and their

presence for immune response

Researches have additionally reported that size, charge and

shape of nanoparticles play significant roles in antigen uptake, and
each material has an optimum size for optimal immune response

SCIENCE BEHIND THE

CURRENT DISCOVERIES
DNA Researchers use Bottom Up fabrication to join
nanoparticles and vaccine components to increase the
effectivity of vaccines

DNA nanoparticle are like catalysts for the reaction of the

body to the vaccine the drive the reaction to occur but how
to regulate this is still being researched polymers may be a
potential solution

FUTURE AREAS OF DEVELOPMENT

Researchers need further understanding of fundamental ofin vivo
behavior of nanoparticles to help determine why certain nanoparticles
operate the way they do in specific solutions and not in other similar
solutions

There is still more research to be done to produce vaccines that are:

Reproducibly consistent
Have desirable properties

Researchers need a understanding of distribution and targeting of these

enhanced vaccines and how these properties interact with the body

HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS
Human papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 have not been successful in
previous trials

When adding nanoparticles to the antigents the vaccine forms stable

non-covalentnanoparticles

This increased the nitrogen to phosphate ratio and gave the particles a
positive change

this new vaccine induced a larger cellular response and show that the
addition of nanoparticles make a more effective drug delivery system of
HPV
