level are the key to support students in learning. Also, it
plays a very important role to improve their levels. I planned
different activities but all of them designed for the same
purpose and it achieved the learning outcomes.

Whole
Time: 10 min

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)

Speaking , listening and reading:
Task 1:
1. Review with the students the differences between "oi and oy" (engage and explore)
I will ask students to give example of these two vowels.
2. Show students video.
After the video, the teacher and students will have short discussion about what did they learn?.
Reasons for choosing video:
Integrate various learning styles which help students to understand the lesson easily. For example, visual by
watching the video. Also, auditory when students will listen to video and while discussion time kinesthetic,
when students will use body language while watching the video,
Arouse students interest as a result, they will gain various vocabulary words and understand better.

Whole class activity:

Use the dictionary to find more example about the two vowels "oi and oy"
How this activity will help both students and teacher?
Students:
Motivate them to learn because it combines fun and learning.
Capacity to distinguish between the oi and oy.
Learn how to decode the words and try to use them in their life while talking with their family and
friends.
Teacher:

Solve the puzzle (low level)

Small
Time: min

Materials:

Prepare different puzzles for the each word such as, coin, spoil, choice
Instructions:
Each puzzle will have 3 pieces of different words. The first piece will be the word , the second will be
the picture of the word and the final piece will be empty.
Students will read the word, look at the picture and write the appropriate vowel that the word is
classify on it either oi or oy
After finishing one word they will get another one, which will scaffold them in learning.
I will model this activity for them.
While students doing the activity, I will correct their mistakes if they have and assess their learning.
Reasons for choosing this activity:
Motivate them to learn because it has bright and colorful illustrations generate interest.
Help them to distinguish between the vowel oi and oy.
Why I choose this for low level?
Low level students faced problem in distinguishing between the vowels . So, this activity will support
them because they will have one word in each puzzle.

Independent Experience (small group activity 1)

Engage, Explore and Explain
Show me the words. (medium Level) .This activity will be for two groups.
Materials:
Board for the words and markers.
Instructions:
It will be paired activity, one student will choose one word ,read it and say and write the
appropriate vowel that the word is classifies either oi or oy. For example, Amal will choose
this word noise, she will read it and say it and write the vowel oi.
His/her partner will have a turn to choose and do like his/her partner.

They will continue working until finish all the words.

Why I choose this activity:
Improve students listening because each partner has to concentrate while their partner say
the vowels and the words.
According to Vygotsky, who mentioned that when students work together and have a
chance to discus and share this will support them to acquire language and learn from each
other. In addition, this is "ZPD", because students can guide their partner while doing the
tasks.
Reinforce students reading, writing and speaking.
Why I choose this for medium level?
Medium level students have the ability to distinguish between the vowels "oi and oy", but
they need more practice and support to be able to reach the high level. In addition, by doing
as pairs, they will scaffold and help each other.
Independent Experience(small group activity 2)
Explain, Explore, and Engage.
Write examples and story about the words. (high level)

Each student will have papers and dictionary
Instructions:
Students will use the dictionary to find example about words that includes this vowels.
After finding examples, they will start writing their own story.
After finish their writing they will discuss with their group about their writing.

Reasons for choosing this activity:

Combine fun and learning at the same time.
Help students to distinguish between the oi and oy vowel.
Develop students reading ,speaking , listening and writing.
Why I choose this for high level?
High level students need more writing activities.
Moreover, they are able to read the words, able to distinguish between the oi and oy without getting
scaffolding from the teacher.

Whole

Extensions activities
1. Classify the words.
Instruction:
Each student will have cups "oi and oy ". Also, they will have different words.
Students will read the words and classify them by putting them in the suitable cu either oi or oy.

question, such as, can you read the word?.
Moreover, I will provide appropriate feedbacks for them and improve their learning.
In addition, I will use the checklist.
Reflection:

what went well:

I used several techniques to help students to understand the lesson such as, the revision, video, use the
dictionary to find words, activities and matching games. In addition, I integrated various learning styles for
example, auditory when they listened to the me and to the video , visual, when they see the video and the
words and kinesthetic when they were doing the activities.
Students were engaged, participated and enjoyed while the dictionary activity and the activities.
I monitor students while activities by walking around and scaffolding students who need more help.
I prepare extension activities because some of students are excellent and finish their work quickly and want
so, students were busy and engaged.

Even better if:

Do the activities more quickly and reduce the opening activity because some students feel bored and l lost
their attention.
Keep praising students who did excellent behavior because this will lead to make other students quite and
copy their behavior.

Next step in teaching and learning:

Used various techniques to teach the lesson such as, online games and songs.
Keep praising students especially who listen and follow the teacher.
Monitor students while activity time.
