Values thinking:

Value Thinking is a set of principles used for evaluation. Value Thinking respects the principles
others use for evaluation. Why is value thinking useful when designing the concept of
sustainability? Some challenges that may arise through Value Thinking for sustainability are our
values. It states that the influences of values on our decisions are often unconscious. In addition
if people don't know what their values are or why they have them than conceptualizing
sustainability will be difficult. Its essential to assemble a group that shares the same values or
Value Thinking together is essential to creating sustainable solution.

Systems thinking:
System Thinking is the accepting of the inner-workings of a system. System Thinking is also the
dynamics within a system, meaning cause-and-effect are not linked. In this case this could be an
issue where in action affects or is affected by the environment surrounding the issue, either the
natural environment or the computer competitive environment. Like reoccurring problems or
those that have been made worse by pass attempts to fix them. You do system thinking by
making decisions that reduce the negative outcomes.

Systems Thinking are a key ingredient in conceptualizing sustainability problems. Bringing

structure and organization to complex systems may be a step in the right direction towards
merging theories. However System Thinking depends on levels of assumption. One can never
fully understand, nor develop predictive models for a system and systems can only be observed
after a measurable event. These assumptions provide an obstacle to the further development of
Systems Thinking.

Strategic thinking:
Strategic thinking is the ability to create a strategy or put a plan together for a specific vision.
The Navy SEALs use strategic thinking when formulating a plan before missions are carried out.
Resembling the example from the video about playing chess the SEALs must adapt to any
changes or adjust to any unaccounted for elements that may hinder the execution of their
mission/vision. To implement strategic thinking one must take into account as many variables as
possible and have responses to all adaptations that you can predict, then executing the plan. As
future educators we should use Strategic Thinking to better execute our lesson plans. We need to
use strategic thinking when creating a lesson plan and think of all difficulties that may arise.
Strategic Thinking is critical to the benefits of sustainability because we need to have a good
plan set in place to accomplish those goals. Strategic Thinking calls for sustainability driven

decision-making. To do so we need strategic leadership towards sustainability. There must be a

designed approach of backcasting based on scientific principles for sustainability.
Futures thinking:
Future thinking has to do with stripping things back to their basics. Incorporating the future
thinking vision method is significant to creating a blueprint for the future. Create a commonly
agreed upon definition of Future Thinking seems to be a struggle. Many believe that future
thinking is the ability to envision scenarios for a desired future. Others think that it's more
systematic. Future thinking needs to be more systematic and have an organized approach when
considering our long-term future. In addition to developing better means of dealing with
uncertainty.
