Task 2 Writing
Objective
To develop awareness of different genres and forms of writing for children and
consider methods used for giving feedback on childrens writing.
Procedure
1, Collect 4 samples of childrens writing. Make sure to remove the childs name from
the sample. Try to find samples from different grade levels if possible. If not just
choose samples from different levels in your class.
2. Notice any forms/genres of writing used in your classroom.
Talk to your teacher and ask the following questions:

What writing genres does she try to expose children to during the year?
Is there a whole school plan for writing development?
Is there a policy for giving feedback to children on their writing?
Does the school have any criteria for assessing childrens writing?
How does she give feedback to her students?

Research Writing Forms or Writing Genres and create a table with 20 different
writing genres and writing forms you might see during teaching practice.

During Teaching Practice

1. Collect the writing samples and try to find different samples


from 3 different grade levels so you can get a picture of how
childrens writing evolves.
2. Keep a record of any different forms or genres used in your
classroom.
3. Interview your teacher and record her answers.

Description

Its about describe some things like: people, things


and place by using metaphors and similes to make
students writing be more powerful. The appropriate
activity for this type is descriptive essay.
Its about collect information and writing. It can be
writing report about comparing and describe
problems and solutions or explain something and
give reason.

Its about writing a topic. Students can write about a


person, place, and event. Also, they can write facts
that related to the topic.

Students use it to describe something like: an event


that happens with them or with other people.

Students write a short story and it have to include:

Its about writing story about person life. For
example: the student will write story about her
father, mother, grandfather or grandmother.

The letters has two types which are: formal and
informal. Students can write the formal letters for
business or any professional place. Informal letter
its about writing letter for the friend or mother.

This sample for boy studies in American School of Creative Science. He is in
grade 2i. He wrote about her mom. I think the child in mastered stage
because in her writing he uses a capital letter, punctuation, and highfrequency words.
