The Judicial Branch

Introduction
I have chosen the Judicial Branch because it reviews and studies laws to
make sure they are right for our country. It also judges the laws made
by the Legislative Branch of government. This branch also serves as a
check for the other two branches of government. This branch has 3
levels, they are the local, state, and national levels.

The National Level of the Judicial Branch

Our Constitution Rocks, says The U.S Supreme Court has 9 members.
There is a chief justice and eight associate justices also.The justices to
the U.S supreme court are appointed by the president and confirmed
by the senate. The U.S Supreme Court is the highest court in the nation
and its decisions cannot be changed. The court justices in this level
are not voted for by the people, they are appointed. This level judges
the countrys laws. This level is located at the U.S. supreme court
building which is located in our countrys capital.

The State Level of the Judicial Branch

The Georgia History and Government book says, The Georgia
Constitution sets up a number of courts. These courts include the
Supreme Court, the court of appeals, Justice of the peace courts and
notaries public also. The Georgia Constitution also provides for such
other courts that have been or may be needed by law. State courts and
city courts are also provided for in the constitution. The court justices in
this level are not voted for by the people, they are appointed. This level
judges state laws. This level is located in the capital of every U.S. state.

The Local Level of the Judicial Branch

The Georgia History and government book says, Local courts include
magistrate courts, probate courts, and municipal courts. Magistrate
courts handle small claims cases and traffic violations. Probate courts
handle legal records, birth certificates marriage licenses, divorce
decrees, and death certificates also. Municipal courts handle city traffic
violations and municipal ordinances. This level judges local laws. The
people in this branch are appointed. This level is located in each U.S.
city.

Conclusion
My reason for choosing the Judicial Branch is it reviews and studies laws
to make sure they are the correct ones for our country. The judicial
branch is made up of courts. Each level of this branch has a similar job
but their jobs are different. I chose the Judicial branch. What branch
would you choose?
