Solving Quadratic Equations Using Concept Maps

o There are four ways in which a quadratic equation can be solved:
1)
2)
3)
4)

Factoring
Quadratic Formula
Completing the Square
Graphically finding the roots & using a t-table

o For this project, you and your partner will create a digital concept map
demonstrating your knowledge of these four methods in detail. Then you
will use your concept map to solve your given quadratic equation, using
each method on a separate sheet of paper.
o You must show work for each method. When graphically finding the roots,
be sure to create a table of values using your graphing calculator, and display
that table on your answer key.
o When your concept map is finished, you must save your finished product to
the s drive, under the folders Ms.ODonnell ConceptMaps with the
first initial and last name of both partners in the group. For example, John
Smith and Sue Johnson would save their work as: J.Smith & S.Johnson
o On Day 2 of this activity, you will be presenting to another group on one of
the four methods, (you will choose at random) so be sure you are an expert
on your quadratic equation, for all four ways in which to find the roots.
o Check out the rubric below, so you know how you will be graded, notice
class participation does count, so be sure to use your in-class time wisely to
work on your project!
