Infants who sleep on their stomachs are know to be more accessible to Sudden
Infant Death syndrome. Having the baby on his back helps keep from getting too hot and
they have more access to fresh air. African American and Native American infants are
more at risk than others along with preemies, low-birth weights, and infants exposed to
cigarette smoke. Also more boys are sustainable to SIDS to girls. Pacifiers keep infant
from falling into a deep sleep, which also reduces the risk of SIDS. There are some
products known to help reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death syndrome. This article
will help with my research paper because it provides information about how to reduce the
risk of SIDS.

Keeping infants on their back is the safest way to let them sleep. Laying them to sleep on
a firm surface with a fitted sheet is a good way to reduce the chance of SIDS. Keeping infant in
the same room is also an additional way to reduces the risk of SIDS. Do not let the baby sleep in
the same bed as you or even on a regular bed or a chair. During pregnancy expectant mothers
should get prenatal care, and should avoid alcohol, smoking or doing any illegal drugs. Avoid
products that say they reduce the risk of SIDS they have not been tested for effectiveness. Let
infant have tummy time, with supervision. Tummy time lets them gain muscle strength. This
article will help me because it lists ways to reduce the risk of SIDS.
