Unknown soldiers are soldiers who fought have
fallen during combat. These soldiers were unidentifiable at the time and didnt have a place to rest. The first unknown soldier to be buried was during WWI. Two years after the burial of the unknown soldier, Gabriel Boissy, a journalist, suggested the idea of the memorial flame. This created a positive reaction from the public. Because of that, the project moved forward at a rapid pace. Now everyday at 6:30 pm, a flame is rekindled by former combatants to honor the fallen soldiers who have not been able to be identified.
