4) Class organization:
While I read the Eating the Alphabet book the children will be seated on the rug
as a class.
Before the game begins, the tables and chairs will have to be pushed to the sides
of the room and will be marked as a No Zone so the children will not go near
the tables and chairs while playing Couch Potato.
When we play the Couch Potato game only four children at a time will be the
taggers while the rest of the class is running away from them.
After the children have played a few rounds of Couch Potato everyone will sit
down at the tables and wait for the next set of directions.
5) Evaluation:
After the children have completed a few rounds of Couch Potato the children
will calm down and go to the tables to drink some water.
When everyone is finished drinking their water, I will pass out pencils and the My
Plate Worksheet.
The children will write their name at the top of the Nutrition Matching Worksheet,
I will read the directions, and the children will draw a line from a food to the
correct food group to test if they learned which foods are healthy and not healthy
for their bodies.

If a child would not be able to run around or be a tagger they could sit or stand,
on the rug that was designated to be the couch, and assist the children that were
tagged to name the food group their food is in.
