I learned about the customs and unique culture of the Mexican people.
Mexicans are a mix of Spain, Aztec, and yes even African people. Their culture and
customs are a blend of Catholic, indigenous, and African. Their foods are a special
melody of spices, peppers, and vegetables. They are a proud people and hardworking
people.
To clarify about what I learned. The assignments to go around and visit
places to see the Virgin Guadalupe and the importance it played in many Mexican
Americans lives and sadly enough to see how some have defaced certain cites where
she has appeared like the Tortuga Park. It is sad that we cannot respect each other
way of life.
The assignment on the artist Ruby Chacon and the Golden Rule and how she
is keeping the memory of people alive like Cesar Chavez and how he fought for the
right of Latinos and other minorities. The role Mexicans have played building up
this country while retaining their national heritage through customs like

quinceaera the practice of celebrating the fifteenth year of a young Mexican girl
becoming a women.
In short I myself am Venezuelan and share some of the same customs this
class has help me to appreciate my culture and the Mexicans also.
