Miss Gross and Miss Fogelmans

Classroom welcomes you!
Hello parents! I would like to take the opportunity to
welcome you and your child to a new year at Pebble
Elementary! My name is Miss Emily Gross and I am
looking forward to getting to know you and your child
throughout the school year. I have had the privilege to
work at Pebble Elementary for 10 years, 5 of them being a
Kindergarten teacher. This year I am fortunate to have
Miss Jessica Fogelman, Pebbles Intervetion Specialist, as
a co-teacher in my classroom. She is going to be a great
asset in helping create the best classroom we can have. As
your son or daughters teacher, my goal will be to help
him/her become a confident learner. I will do my absolute
best to help make this a positive experience for your child.
I look forward to working with you throughout the coming
year. I am confident that together we can provide the
support and encouragement needed to help your child
excel.
Hello parents! My name is Miss Jessica Fogelman and I
am the Intervention Specialist in Miss Gross classroom. I
have been teaching for twenty years here at Pebble
Elementary and have loved every moment of it. Teaching
is my passion, and I love supporting Miss Gross in her
classroom. I am so excited for this year; we have so many
wonderful things planned for the children. As the
Intervention Specialist, I work closely with students who
need intervention throughout the school day. I work with
them in the full-classroom setting, and I also pull students
and take them to the Intervention room to give them
individual attention. Miss Gross and I have worked closely
to plan this year so that we can provide support for all the
students at all different levels. We are so excited to work
with your child, and we look forward to meeting you at
Conferences!

What is Happening in our Classroom

Reading: We are working on various word sorts in class
that are appropriate for each students developmental
spelling stage.

Math: We are working on basic skills that will best prepare

students for the rest of Kindergarten math. These include:
counting, number recognition, and shapes and their
attributes.

Science: We are investigating what plants need to grow,

the changes that take place, and the different parts of plants.

Social Studies: We are learning what it means to be good

citizens and how to be responsible students in our school.

Classroom Philosophy
Our primary goal this school year
is to make sure that each child
has a positive learning
experience in our classroom.
Miss. Fogelman and myself are
true believers of creating a
classroom of independence. One
of the things we will do this year
is to challenge your child to
become an independent learner
in the classroom. Through this,
we will also challenge them to
become problem solvers in
everyday life. In our classroom,
we believe that it is important to
create a community of learners
who work together, solve
problems together, communicate
well with each other, and respect
one another. As teachers, we
personally believe that students
construct their own knowledge.
We will provide your child with
ample opportunities and lessons
that build upon each other so
that they can be the constructors
of their own learning.

As always, we encourage learning not only in the

classroom, but at home as well. Here are a few recommend
internet resources that are developmentally appropriate
for your child. Feel free to explore them at home or your
local library!
