Project Overview Table

Area of Concern

Needs Assessment

Scroggins
Elementary is home
away from home. As
so, I want students to
have ownership of
the school grounds
and to maintain a
positive, welcoming
environment to
visitors and other
members of the
school community. At
the moment, I do not
see that students
care for the schools
beautification and
maintenance.
Furthermore,
teachers do not
implement systems
to encourage
students ownership
of the school.

As a member of the
Scroggins learning
community for
almost 20 years, I
have seen the
potential that
students in my
learning community
have. However,
many times they lack
of high expectations
and do not show
respect for
themselves and
others. Many times
they enter the school
without saying a
simple good morning.
These students are
simply not living up
to their potential.

Name of Project: Students Facilitators

Projects Action
Plan
Early March 2016
Had student
orientation in the
cafeteria. Students
and I researched the
areas of the school in
which they could be
helpful. The next day
they chose their
duties.

Competencies
Addressed
March 2016

Early April 2016Started to implement

cafeteria procedures
to pick up the trash
around each class
table and to clean up
after the students

Evaluation

Reflection

Pre-Assessment
Students do not show
courtesy and respect
for each other. For
instance, they do not
say good morning
or open the door for
others. I have seen
the students
throwing papers on
the floor and making
a mess in the
cafeteria.

1. This project made

me realize how
important is to
lead by example.
Teachers are the
role models that
children admire.
The sense of
belonging and
ownership of the
school and
community
begins in the
classroom.
2. Students cannot
be
underestimated
because they get
very excited as
they participate
and help in the
school
community. It is
important to give
them a chance
and teach them
character and

Final evaluation
This is still a work in
progress, but
volunteer students
come early in the
morning to raise the
flag and open doors
for those who arrive
later. They unlock the
classrooms for the
substitute teachers
and clean up after
themselves in the
