Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Peyton Brown and I am pleased to be writing to you today regarding my
application for employment within your institute. I graduated from the University of
Arizona in May 2016 with my BSN. I am applying for a full-time position in labor and
delivery, NICU, or Postpartum/Couplet care available days and/or nights.
Throughout my career as a student nurse with the University of Arizona, I maintained a
GPA above 3.5 while on a full academic scholarship and have been awarded honors
through the Deans list with distinction. I was recently inducted into the nursing honorary
of Sigma Theta Tau International for my academic accomplishments. I participated in
Dignity Healths Volunteen program beginning at the age of 14. After obtaining over 50
hours of service, I earned the opportunity to participate in the Roadways to Healthcare
program in the labor and delivery unit. This experience not only allowed me to shadow a
seasoned labor and delivery RN but it ultimately inspired me to continue my education as
I went on to obtain my license as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Throughout my clinical rotations, I have had the opportunity to work in several settings
including, labor and delivery, NICU, and the postpartum couplet care unit, all performed
at Tucson Medical Center (TMC). My experience with maternal/newborn has enabled me
to carry out a healing ministry through collaboration with staff along with improving my
awareness of the needs of patients and their families.
In addition to continuing to master new nursing skills, I have developed strong leadership
abilities as a Resident Assistant with the University of Arizona. For three years, I have
brought all of the empathy, communication, organizational and time management skills I
learned in my previous jobs, and my healthcare volunteering/clinical services to the RA
residence hall advisory position. Nursing has allowed me to continue to develop and
apply these skills and to contribute in a way that is deeply satisfying and meaningful.
Through my multiple responsibilities, community service, hospital volunteering, and in
working with many people in many settings, I have learned to maintain a strong personal
integrity, to work and study with commitment, to communicate and listen with kindness,
empathy and good humor. I will contribute meaningfully and enthusiastically to group
learning, and I have the experience to lead well when appropriate. This is what I bring to
your community, and I am so excited to begin.
Sincerely,

Peyton Brown
