Assessment Task 2: Body Image Poster Design


& PowerPoint Presentation
Aim: Individually create a poster design for The Reach Foundation Not-for-Profit Organisation.
Main Message: Communicate the way or ways teenagers can go about developing a positive body image.
Audience: Teenagers (both male and female)
Time to complete the task- 5 weeks in total
Due date- 15th June 2016 (Week 8)
Assessment Task 2- 80% of total grade for the unit
Assessment Components:
Final poster design 30/80
Design Process/PowerPoint- 30/80
Presentation Skills 20/80
Inquiry Question: How can teenagers develop a positive body image?
Sub-questions: What kind of thinking could help teenagers develop a positive body image?
What sort of actions could teenagers take to combat a negative body image/perception?
What kinds of images best represent a healthy body image?
What written message/ headline can you think of which communicates a positive body image message?
Learning Objectives: The students will be able to:
Explore and apply methods, materials, media, design elements and design
principles to create a poster design.
Create an image/images using manual or digital drawing methods and incorporate it into the poster design.
Present their ideas to others and explain and justify thinking processes.

Materials: Art materials: pens, paper, markers, acrylic, gouache, pencils, digital camera, iPads, Computers
Adobe Suite software (InDesign, Illustrator)

Submission Requirements:
Poster
Submit one finished Poster, either A3 or A2 size. The work can be created manually, using the art materials of
your choice or computer generated. Posters created on computer must be printed out and submitted to the
teacher, as a hard copy after your class presentation in Week 8.

You must consider the design elements and design
principles when creating your poster design.

The poster must include the following elements:
Headline/Typography
Original drawing/illustration in the medium of your choice
Reach Foundation logo
Reach web address

Design Process/PowerPoint file
The PowerPoint file will need to contain 5-6 photographs, which serve as documentation of your Design
Process.
You will need to submit your PowerPoint file to the teacher by: 5pm, Wed 15th June 2016 (Week 8)

Class Presentation:
Duration: Approximately 5 minutes per student. Present you ideas to the class and
explain and justify your thinking processes.

Content Requirements:
1.Present your PowerPoint slides.
Briefly explain the process you went through to arrive at your final Poster Design.
2. Present your final Poster Design.
Explain the main purpose of your poster.
Explain why you think this message would appeal to a teenage target audience.
Define the way/ways that your poster promotes a positive body image.
