environmentspressureustobewhatwearetrulynot.MinoritiessuchasBlackmalesand

wantsthemtobeorwhatsocietydoesntwantthemtobe.Onemayalsochangetheirappearance
justtofitinwithsocietyorthewaytheyactdependingonwhatenvironmenttheyarein.Family
canalsoplayanimportantroleinhowapersonmayactorconform.Whenoneconforms,they
agreewiththemajoritygroupjusttofitinwhetheritbelosingweightoractingadifferentway
andIbelievethishasshapedidentitiesintremendouswaysforeveryoneincludinghomosexuals
andminorities.

brandnameclothingjustsotheycanfitinwithsociety.Societymakes
ithardforyoungwomantobethemselves,especiallywhentrendslike
thesearepraisedoverlooksthataremorenatural.Sometimespeoplechangetheirappearances,
othersmaychangethewaytheyactdependingonwhotheyarearoundandwhatenvironment
theyarein.
Inaworkingenvironment,individualstendtoconformbecausetheyhaveto.Forwork,
staffusuallyhastochangethewaytheydressandthewaytheymaytalktoothers.Atwork,
employeesareencouragedtobemoreformalthaninformalwhichcanleadtoaperson

beautifulnomatterwhat.

ornottheyconform.Society'sexpectationsandstereotypesmakeithardtobeyourself.Working
environmentsevenrequireyoutochangeasapersonjustsoyoucanbemoreprofessional.
Conforminghindersusfrombeingwhowetrulyareandinreality,themajorityofsocietyis
livingonebiglie.Maybeonedayindividualswilllearntolovetheskintheyareinanddisregard
thenegativecomments,butuntilthenconformismwillgrow.
