Gay Marriage Rights

I. Introduction (Rogerian Step One)

Gay marriage is a controversial topic widely debated. What place does the government and others
have in telling people who they can and can not be with.

Gay marriage is being widely accepted now, but there are still issues and debates occurring. Gay
marriage is legal in some states and illegal in others.

- Some people have been raised that it was wrong or unmoral and the anatomy of the human body
proves. My opinion is that People should be able to decide who they want to be with not the court
system or others.
- In the end one should be able to choose their own happiness and told so by otherwise.

II. Opposition Perspective (Rogerian Step Two)

- A marriage is between a man and a woman not a man and a man or women and a woman
- It is unmoral and un-right, we were created to reproduce and you can only do that with a man and
women together. People who are gay are going to hell. It is not a marriage if it ia between a man and a
women.
- Christians and other religions believe this is so. You cannot go to heaven or be a morally right person
if you are gay.

III. Writer's Perspective (Rogerian Step Three)

- Pro Gay marriage
- it should be someones own personal decision to make
-supreme court ruling in favor of gay marriage, religions are all different and we have a freedom to
choice in America.
- Most liberals would agree and people for equal opportunity as well as gays.
- we should not base laws off of religion and personal opinions, they should be based of the betterment
of everyone.

V. Alternatives

Alternatives could be, someone may not agree with gay marriage, but they
shouldnt judge someone if they do so because it is not their decision. Therefore
people could just let it be and stop trying to control it

Eskridge reviews the evidence and how gay marriage is for the betterment of everyone. Through
database you can see how gay marriage would not undermine marriage as an institution nor be
negative for the children.
