GravBoot isathirdperson runner, wheretheplayer can move between3lanesaswellaschangethe


directionofgravitytoalterthelevelandavoidobstaclesaswellasmaintainingmomentum.

1.2 Game Flow Summary

The game is quite fast paced and relies on intense focus from the player, as well as having a good
reaction time. The hope iswiththemusic and speed of the gameplay, playerswilltransitionintoa flow
statewheretheyarefullyfocusedandimmersedwithinthegamespace.
Trying to get the best time for each track is also an incentive for players to keep trying, as well as
replayinglevelstheyvealreadybeaten.

Grav Boot is set in a retro future world and the theme of the game is retrowave which
featuresbrightneoncoloursandsynthpopstylemusictosuitthetheme.

2 Gameplay

2.1 Gameplay

Playersarerequiredtomovebetweenthebottomandtopthreelanes andusetheirgravityifnecessaryto
avoidincomingobstacles.

The gravity effect allows players to move up onto the top threelanes which is required toavoid larger
incoming obstacles on thebottomlanes.Gravityisdepletedovertimeandcanbereplenishedbypassing
overstreamsoflights.

Theobjectiveistoavoidallobstaclesandcollectasmanyitemsandpointsasyoucan.

3.1 Gravity

The playerhas theability to affect the directionofgravity by usingtheirgravityboots.Thiswillaidintheir


locomotivemovementandhelpinavoidingobstacles.
3.2 Time

The races are alsotimed, so the playerwillhave tobe mindful of how long they have tocompleteeach
track.
3.3 Scarce Resources

The gravity boots run on solarenergy,soastheplayerusesthebootstochangethedirectionofgravity,


their energy reserveswilldeplete.To restore them, the playermust passoverstreamsoflightthatshine
throughcavernsinthetrack.

theworldofGravBoot
GravBoot racing isaninternationalsportcraze,peopleeverywherebarrackfortheirfavouriteracer.Grav
racing is also a lucrative avenue for businesses to sponsor athletes, allowing for huge events and
eccentricracetracks.

The audio is fairly important in supporting the overalltheme.Usingsynthpopmusicwillhelpfitthetheme


of the game which is Retrowave. Think reference material such as
Queen or
Journey as bands that
pioneeredthegenre.

Itwill also be imperative to implement sound effectsappropriate for thingssuchasmenunavigationand


theuserinterface.
Using the gravity abilities and taking damage will also require their own sound effects to furtherrelay
importantinformationtotheplayer,allowingtoremaininagameflowstate.
