We are the Poor Busters and our goal is to bring awareness to unemployment,
poverty, and homelessness in the city. We hope that bringing attention to these
issues can help resolve them. Our brochure covers information about these topics
and provides existing programs in El Paso where aid can be provided. Poverty is a
serious and prevailing issue that deserves more attention
Here are some facts that show some of the effects of poverty:

Unemployment rates in El Paso are at 5.9% as of March 2015

Dropout rates of 16-24-year old students who come from low income families are seven
more times likely to drop our than those from families with higher incomes

Children that live below the poverty line are 1.3 times more likely to have
developmental delays or learning disabilities than those who dont live in

Our brochure utilizes Ethos through providing existing resources

All information provided is current

The information on resources providing are from governmental sources

The voice is very professional but creates a sense of urgency for the readers
to resolve the problem

A graph is included to compare unemployment rates in El Paso to


unemployment rates in the state and country throughout the last decade

The front cover of our brochure has the title Building a Better Tomorrow
Today as a vague statement and persuades the reader to open it up and find
out more about the great future the brochure implies

Poverty works in a cycle of unemployment to poverty to loss of properties and


often homes as well

Getting out of the poverty cycle can be hard if those in need dont seek
assistance

Pathos

The picture used on the cover symbolizes a new beginning and is meant to
intrigue the reader

One of the images used inside of the brochure evokes a sadder reaction from
the reader as it portrays a family trying to hold a home

We provide information about families to target a greater audience of all ages


and create sympathy for those facing these struggles

One of the goals of this brochure is to give support to decrease peoples


predisposition of a negative and shameful feeling that often comes with
asking for help

Our target audience for this brochure are citizens of El Paso with
characteristics of financial battle and/or homelessness

In Conclusion

Poverty in the city deserves to be addressed more because of the dire


consequences that could come when facing financial struggles. This is an issue
that affects people of all ages and backgrounds.

There are plenty of opportunities for moving forward and receiving aid
available in El Paso

We hope this brochure can effectively inform people of the severity of this
problem and even encourage those in need to seek assistance
