Methods

1. Prepare 3 worm farms with a sufficient amount of food, soil, and

water.
2. Place 12 worms into each bin and give them 1 week to acclimate
to new environment.
3. Place worms from the first bin a separate container and set up
cell phone above worms. Leave for 30 minutes.
4. Repeat with second bin of worms, but expose for 45 minutes.
5. Repeat exposure once a day for 5 days
6. On the last day, set up SpikerBox: plug Spikerbox on laptop
cable and connect to computer
7. Prepare worms for testing: set up 10% ethyl alcohol solution and
place worm into it for 7 minute.s
8. After worm is anesthetized, place on balsa wood in the faraday
cage.
9. Place red worm in posterior end of worm, place black pin near
the clitellum of the worm, and place white pin in center.
10. Turn SpikerBox on, open Audacity, and record. Tap end of worm
as you record.
11. Save file as .ogg and use to gather results.
12. Dispose of worms by placing in 100% ethyl alcohol overnight

Conclusion
My hypothesis was supported by these results. Based off of
these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant
speed decrease of the neuron signaling when exposed to
continual radiation emitted from a cell phone. You can conclude
this based simply off of the averages from each test, but also
from the analysis that follows. It is significant enough of a
difference that these results should be taken seriously, and more
examination should follow to further relate this correlation to
other types of tests. Human response to this radiation is
another big step that should be taken when you look at the
results from this experimentation, but is something that proves
to be more logistically complicated.

Impact

The world without cell phones is clearly over. Cell phones are
being used all over the world, and more and more people in
poorer nations are beginning to get access to technology like
this. They have become a way of life for so many people and it
is impossible to go back. However, it is important to understand
how cell phones affect the health of people because of the
significant increase of usage that has occurred over the past
40 years. Understanding that this radiation can cause slight
damage to our brains is important so that we can take measures
to protect ourselves from this damage, and people can look for
ways to decrease the damage caused. There are still a lot more
studies that should be done to truly test these effects, but my
findings are a step in the direction that more studies should
occur to understand what goes on when we use a cell phone.
