Who stopped the rebuild post Civil War the North of the South?

In the late 1870's the South was needed to be rebuild. The 13th amendment freed the slaves
but they became an issues when they had nothing to do with all of the new free blacks. Who
stopped the rebuild post Civil War the North or the South? The rebuilding of the nation came
with many distraction of the rebuild such as Southern hostility and Northern neglect.
The rebuilding of the South post Civil War ended because of the Southern hostility.
Carpetbaggers were people who came from up North down to the South to take advantage of the
South. The South did not approve of this and they were hostile towards the groups from the
North and they would stab and hang them or show violence to prove that the North could not just
walk all over the South (Doc A). The South survival hated the blacks from the start and having
the other group from the North cheat them caused a major disturbance. The rebuilding of the
South post Civil War also ended because of the South's targeting of black voter. The South
believed that blacks should not be equal to the white and have equal authority. When voting time
came around, blacks were allowed to vote. 500,000 blacks had voted compared to 310,000 white
votes (Doc B). Since the South was starting to have more black population they were concerned
that the black would overrule them. This is when the KKK a terrorist group came in. The KKK
was filled with upper class white men such as doctors and lawyers and sometimes would vary
with farmers (Doc B). The KKK saw the blacks as a threat so they would do anything to abolish
all of the black people. Because they hated the black people so much they would kill, threaten,
and torture any black person in sight without a care In the world.

Another end to the rebuild of the South was the Northern neglects. The North was getting fed
up with having to solve the racial issues in the South and they were beginning to question the
government running of the South(Doc C). The North is starting to see the failure in the South's
government and is therefore caused them to start to loose faith. President Grant was way too
focused on the carpetbaggers and the terrorists groups from the North and the South actually
focus on rebuilding of the South. This became a motor distraction for the South.
Lastly the failure of rebuilding the South post Civil War was because of the indifference and
racial opinions in the North. The Radical Reconstruction left many of the Northerners mad and
frustrated (Doc D). If both the South and the North didn't want to participate and help then the
South will never be rebuilt. The South hated the blacks from the start but for a turn the North
started to make blacks the cause of their issues also (Doc D). The North became less interested in
the federal government so they were started to become unwilling and selfish and not help with
the rebuked causing a lot of chaos.
The rebuild of the South Post Civil war was caused by the North and the South. The South
was caught up in their Southern hostility while the North was being stoppers and unwilling by
having Northern neglect. Both the North and the South caused major chaos to occur making
there to be an end to the rebuilding of the South.
