Aeronautical Engineering: A different side to math and logic
Aeronautical Engineering is a complex and difficult career to enter, and is the perfect
challenge for someone able to match the logic and math levels required to succeed. I dream of
the day when I get to take apart the world bit by bit and figure out how it works. If I want my
dream to become reality, Engineering is a challenge I must embrace.
History of Aeronautical Engineering
Engineering has historically been a profession bound to the realm of anti-theism. Back in
the old ages where gods and demons commanded the respect of the individual, a man of science
and theory was viewed as a heretic and sinner. Its history can be traced back to Leonardo da
Vinci and his drawings of intricate flying machines. Sources state that The roots of
[Engineering] can be traced to the initial studies of Aerodynamics. (William), citing
Leonardo as a father to the profession. Throughout the humanities existence, our curiosity has
driven us to embrace scientific endeavors, allowing Engineering to thrive as new inventions and
discoveries are made every day. With the far dream of soaring to the heavens being a reality in
modern times, it is very easy to say humanity has progressed far from where it started. Modern
Engineers have an extensive background of skills, making them suitable for any job or
profession available to men of a sharp mind. Reports show that Aeronautical Engineers are
armed with an extensive background suitable for employment in most [jobs] traditionally

occupied by mechanical Engineers. allowing them to jump from profession to profession until
they find a home for themselves in the scientific community.
Selection Process and Financial Outlook
The modern engineer pulls in an income with a range usually between $61,570$72,880. (Aerospace Engineer Salaries.) This income is expected to grow throughout their
career, with the majority of Aeronautical Engineers being in the middle of their career lifespan.
This is not regular pocket change either; it is the product of a long dedication to mathematics and
statistics that the normal person is not equipped to accomplish. To make matters even more
complicated, Aeronautical Engineers rely on a complex selection process to be assigned to jobs.
They have to be evaluated academically, socially, mentally, and sometimes physically before
being filtered into their first job. From there they have to work their way up the ladder to
become a professional. (Brady). Once they reach a certain level of accomplishment in their
field, whether it be through time spent working or discoveries they made, Engineers gain the
ability to move throughout the social pecking order of their fellow associates. This social order
that they have constructed is Odd and kinda silly when you take a step back and look at it
(Brady) due to the lack of a real system of roles. The power dynamic is spread even, where one
mans work is valued just as highly by any other man in his field. This creates a free flowing
community inside this niche profession that is daunting to enter but welcoming to newcomers.
Educational Requirements
Engineers hold many different college degrees from a large well of different educational
backgrounds. The requirements for obtaining these degrees are as complicated and diverse as a
Rube Goldberg machine made to run for hours. The two main shared backgrounds education that
is common across all fields of Engineering are mathematics and physics. The common

Aeronautical engineer must hold a very firm understanding of the logic and numbers behind his
project, which means that they would benefit to enjoy these subjects to avoid frustration and
boredom. Most Engineers describe the requirements to become an Engineer to typically include
a bachelors degree in an engineering discipline, though a masters degree may be needed for
advancement in some fields. (Learn) This includes things such as Material Design,
Architecture, 3D modeling, Programming, Forensic Analysis, and Biochemical or Medical
degrees. All these different backgrounds create a group of well-armed and ingenious individuals
that are able to tackle any challenge thrown their way. They are a fierce team of mastermind
scientists that are able to make dreams a reality, and that is what they intend to do. And on top of
it all, Aeronautical Engineers are the people who take those new realities and bring them to the
edges of the universe. The passion and beauty of their craft is what makes the profession a
respectable honor to be involved in.
Job Advancements
Aeronautical Engineering is a hard market to survive in, and those who wish to rise to the
top need to be extraordinary in their innate skill and a passion for their work. Those who actually
wish accomplish this are the ones who have modeling and simulation skills in addition to a
standard Aerospace Engineering background. (Aerospace Engineering Jobs). This extra
skillset not only makes the job for the individual easier, but also helps his coworkers complete
their goals in a reasonable time as well. The selection process to become an Aeronautical
Engineer also ties into the beginning job advancement they will go through as well. They have
tough decisions to make knowing when you know that what you have in your tool belt might
save someone elses life, so be sure to come well prepared. (Brady) If they lack the skills
necessary to go above and beyond a life might be lost, so be sure to master as many educational

backgrounds as possible to ensure the safety of their team. The constant thought of failure drives
Engineers to push themselves to their limits, not only mentally, but physically too. Late night
working, full weeks without sleep, stress and chaos trying to stay organized, and even isolation
from their loved ones to finish their job. All of these sacrifices lead to a hard life and difficult
career, but the payout emotionally has been described as one of the most fulfilling and
heartwarming feelings you will ever get. (Brady)
Conclusion
Aeronautical Engineering is a complex and intricate job requiring a large dedication to
the cause and a very bright mind to solve the problems that the rest of society is unprepared to
take on. It is a multileveled self-governing community that consists of the most intelligent people
the human race has to offer. The career rewards Engineers for their dedication with handsome
pay with the chance of gaining a level of fame that will engrave their name in history. And the
historians and book keepers of our world better be ready, because when they write my name
down for improving society, I want the text to be big, bold, gold, and written in Comic Sans.
