Some impairments that are very common are: 1. Attention Deficit hyper-activity (ADHD)- an overactive, restless, and impulsive child who often becomes hostile and fails to observe classroom limits. 2. Autism- A condition in which children are unable to interact socially with others.
How does this impact the child:
1. ADHD impacts a child because they could forget things and have disorganization. Low self-esteem, aggressiveness and emotional immaturity can also impact the child. They also cannot be still for a long period of time. 2. Autism impacts a childs development because children with autism might seem more interested in environmental sounds than in the sound of people talking. The child may seem distracted or seem not to hear what people say.
Accommodating special needs:
1. Inclusion/mainstreaming- placing special needs children in regular classrooms to allow them to learn in the least restrictive environment. 2. (IDEA)-requires all states to provide education for children who are delayed. Must have individual program. 3. (IEP)-plan for a childs disability containing assessment information, goals, objectives, statement of involvement etc...
