A learning experience in NFDN 2004 that focuses on this competency is

attending class and being taught units that focused in prenatal care
specifically. In the class for unit 2.1 I learned about all the signs of
pregnancy (presumptive, probable and positive). We also learnt about the
physiological changes of the body that occur throughout the pregnancy.

I believe I would rate myself in the fair category because I understand

all these concepts and why they are part of the prenatal care but I have
never used them in a real care setting and believe I would need a
refresher and/or notes to make sure I complete all categories of the
health history and assessment. I would also need the, for calculating
gravida, parity and estimated due date.

In current nursing practices I will use this knowledge and learning

experiences to identify possible pregnancies when woman come into a
hospital complaining of the probable symptoms of pregnancy and thus
can refer them to a doctor or health professional for their needs.
