- Descriptive words make our sentences more interesting, creates an image
in our mind.
At the conclusion of this lesson, the students will demonstrate the
skills/strategies of:
- Being able to identify and say a descriptive word
Assessment:
Using the assessment grid focusing on three students.
Assessment criteria for analysis:
- Has at least half a page
- Has at least 5 descriptive words
- Uses correct punctuation and spelling

Discuss what the different descriptive words that grammaopolis used. Create a
list.
Watch the video again if necessary.
How do you know thats a describing word?
Can you say your word in front of the word tree, does it still make sense?
C.
Consolidation, practice, extension
30 mins
Student are to go to their desks and I will place an object on each table (ball,
blanket, toy turtle and snow-flakes). Students are to write a story in their writing
books about the object on their table using interesting descriptive words and
their imagination. They are to write half a page with 8 descriptive words.
Extending: write 1 page, checking grammar, punctuation and spelling.
Enabling: write half a page with 5 descriptive words chosen with the teacher.

Closure
10 mins
If students wish they may watch grammaopolis again. While roving choose 3
students to read their stories to the class, and get the class to count the
descriptive words.
