basedinBallarat Victoria(Pinarc,2015). Pinarcprovidesservicesin


theory,educational,socialwork,casemanagement,adultdayprograms,
recreation,advocacy,supportgroups,communityeducation,respiteand
earlychildhoodeducation;theseservicesreachover1000children,adults
andthedisabledintheGrampiansregionalarea(Pinarc,2015).Oneof
themajorfeaturesofnotforprofitagenciesistheuseofvolunteersin
theirdaytodayrunningoftheprograms(Balandia,Llewellyn,Dew&
Ballin,2006).Pinarchaveastrongexpectationontheiremployeesand
volunteers, they expect everyone to treat each client with dignity and
respect. By working in the wider community they hope to boost
inclusivityandcommunityawarenessaboutissuesaffectingpeopleliving
withadisability;theystronglyemphasisthisintheirvisionandmission
statement(Pinarc,2015).
Whenworkingwithpeoplethathaveadisabilityagenciesmustbeaware
ofthelegislationthatthegovernmenthasputintoplacetoprotecttheir
rights.PinarcworkwiththeDisabilityact2006andtheHumanrightsact
2004toensurethattherightsoftheirclientsareallmetandsupported
(Pinarc,2013). StatedinPinarcsmissionandvisionstatementstheir
legislation to the disabled is to provide them with equality in the
community(Pinarc,2015).PinarcworksheavilywiththeDisabilityAct
2006tostandbytheirmission/visionstatement;theDisabilityAct2006
statesthatapersonwithadisabilityhasthesamerightstoasanyother
personinthecommunity. TheDisabilityAct2006alsohasprovisions
foragenciessuchasPinarcinwhichtheyneedtofollowtosupportthe
rightsoftheirclients,ThebiggestpointthatrelatedtoPinarcsmission

andvisionstatementisthattheagenciesshouldadvancetheinclusionand
participationinthecommunityofpersonswithadisabilitywiththeaim
ofachievingtheirindividualaspirations(DisabilityAct,2006).
Pinarcprovidesawiderangeofservicesforpeoplewithdisabilitiesfrom
birthtoadulthood.Duringthehumanrightsmovementthatbeganinthe
1950saparentmovementbegantofightfortherightofchildrenfor
publiclyfundededucationandotherservicessucharecreationservices
(Pedlar, Hutchison & Arai, 2000). Whilst Pinarc provides case
management,planningandadvocacy;theyalsoprovidedotherrecreation
activitiesfortheclients.Theseactivitiesarerespite,camps,youthgroups
holiday programs, as well as activities for adults in groups or as an
individual (Pinarc, 2014). Pinarc provide support programs for many
differentagegroups,betweentheageof0to6,theseservicesinthisage
group range from Helping children with Autism package, Early
childhood intervention support and Parent support groups (Pinarc,
2015).Theyalsoprovidelimitedtimefundingprogramsforparentswho
seechildcareandmedicalcostforfurthertestingfortheirchild(Pinarc,
2015).Betweentheagesof718Pinarcprovideactivityprogramsand
support programs for their clients. The activity programs are Camps,
Youthgroups,holidayprogramsandafterschoolsportsprograms;the
supportprogramsofferedareFamilyoptionsprograms,Parentsupport
groupsandflexiblesupportpackages(Pinarc,2015).Foradultsthey
provide many socialization programs, industry training and financial
supportpackages(Pinarc,2015).
