Explain the role of each of the four lobes of the cerebral cortex
Describe in sufficient detail one of four types of brain imaging techniques
Effectively use ICT tools to assist their learning
Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation:
-

Quizlet content prepared

Students added to Quizlet
Diagram of the brain with blank labels
Google Doc with table illustrating brain imaging techniques
iPads with Drawing Desk app

Provision for students at educational risk:

Visual/Hearing Impairment: Strategic seating near the
front of the classroom for improved vision/hearing.
Explicit and repeated instruction as well as check ins
for understanding and clarification.
Learning disabilities: Assistance with the ICT tools
and simplifying lesson objectives
Extension students: Extension questions or further
information required for each task

LESSON EVALUATION (to be completed AFTER the lesson)

Assessment of Lesson Objective and Suggestions for Improvement:
Were students able to correctly locate and name the four lobes of the brain?
Could students describe the role of each lobe of the brain?
Could students effectively use the chosen ICT skills incorporated within the lesson?
Could students describe in sufficient detail one of four brain imaging techniques?

Teacher self-reflection and self-evaluation:
Were the chosen ICT tools helpful to all students?
Were there any aspects of the lesson particularly challenging to the students?

mins.

Using the image of the brain provided on the WebQuest, students will
need to download the image onto the iPad to make annotations and
label the brain.
Show video on the cerebral cortex (5 mins.) Students will use the
video to label the parts of the brain and make note of each of the
lobes major functions using Drawing Desk on their iPads.

5.

For students who have finished early, allow them to explore more
about the brain with this interactive website.
