Argumentative Essay
Society and the world are increasingly falling apart. In the progress of people there is a
sense of belonging and priority. This intertwines with the ideas of Collectivism and
Individualism. Collectivism is the idea of progression of the community while Individualism is
in the interest of personal success and achievement. With the world falling apart, people need to
progress first. (You Identity Matters) This happens through self-foundation and identity,
Individualism is the ideal lifestyle and mind state die to the capability to have personal freedom
and self-achievement.
With the idea of Individualism, the individual has personal freedom over all things in
whatever theyre trying to accomplish. For example, through Individualism an individual can
work at their own pace that theyd prefer, you can accomplish things the way they want and have
it done stylistically and the way they want. (Individualism vs. Collectivism: Our Future, Our
Choice)
Being an Individualist is bigger than just doing things on their own. Through this idea
and mind state a person can find who they really are and their true identity; themselves, that
persons time, their life and choices belong to them and not a group of people. Their well-being
is up to them and what they want to do with it, which is something Collectivism lacks. (Social
Identity Theory)

Despite the evidence against this idea of Collectivism, many people believe it is superior
to Individualism. They fail to see the fact that Collectivism is present in all forms of government
and high power. When it comes to government, it is something that doesnt involve progression
of society. For example, in Animal Farm, the source of high power was a huge circle from the
beginning to the end of the book. First, Mr. Jones was the head and he mistreated the animals.
Once he was overthrown, Napoleon took over and he became just as bad or even considered
worse than Mr. Jones. (Animal Farm) But Collectivism does have elements of sacrifice for the
greater good. Although aspects of that are enticing, those sacrifices set back the individual in a
way Individualism never will. (Individualism vs. Collectivism: Our Future, Our Choice)
All this proves the argument of, Individualism as the superior to Collectivism due to the
power of self-freedom, and achievement. Individualism is the answer to all problems of identity
and is crucial in the development of a strong generation.
