May 2016,
To Whom It May Concern,

Steven Carson has completed his second term placement in my classroom, teaching grade 1
at Barkers Point School, March through May. During which time, Steven completed several
weeks where he taught full time. Steven is a person who possesses the personal
characteristics and qualities required to make an effective teacher. He is a natural teacher
whom the children loved learning from and enjoyed his teaching strategies and lessons.
Steven was able to assume teaching responsibilities very early on in his internship. He had
excellent classroom management skills and children always knew what their expectations
were. He was very aware of each childs personal needs in the classroom and worked hard to
build a relationship with each and every student on a daily basis. He always took extra time
with those students he knew were having a hard time either in school, or at home.
During his internship Steven effectively taught to a wide range of needs within the classroom
including autism, a student who had newly arrived from Syria with no English, ADHD, and
several children with learning disabilities. His lesson plans always included a variety of
techniques to assist each child to achieve their best.
During his time at Barkers Point School, Steven also created and implemented a science
group for grade 3-5 students with a focus on forensic Science. The students really looked
forward to coming each week.
Over his internship period Steven prepared and delivered units in Literacy, You and Your
World and Math. Steven went above and beyond to support our school and the children,
often returning to our classroom, during his free time, to visit the students and volunteer in the
classroom.
Steven has a tremendous amount of skills to offer any school. I would strongly recommend
that he be considered for any position for which he may be applying. I wish him every success
in teaching.
Sincerely,

Melanie Lloyd
