The CACAO Planting

Experience
Background:
Sometime ago, At the Villa Maria Farm & Orchard
were planted several Cacao Trees mindless of the
PLANT VARIETY specifics and unmindful of
adherence to any PLANTING PROTOCOL. All we
wanted is from our planted trees soon we shall
have CHOCOLATES.
The trees grew and we are all hopefull. Sideway
the Cacao tree plantation were several intercrops
such as:

Multicropping
1. Soursop
(guyabano)
2. Sweet Papaya
3. Pineapples and
others
4. Vegetables e.g.
sweet pepper,
tomatoes and okra
and several fruit tree

At the Farm, we
have high hopes
and dreams. We
actively partnered
with:
1. Parish Church
2. Farmers
3. Schools and
Universities
4. Other Farm sites

7. Agri-Tourism

We waited for years

and counting since
2009, our Cacao trees
are growing , 100 of
them only and while
our intercrops are
yielding us enough for
local market and
personal consumption.
We cant complain
though yet always
thankful.

Promising Trees/ The Tree of

LOVE

However, Nature Calls

Sometime in November 2013. Who would
ever forget the horrendous strike of typhoon
Haiyan/ Yolanda. She danced and did the
zumba over our Cacao trees and all over the
farm, the town, the city, the province of
CAPIZ her eye.
Trees were uprooted and roofs were
misplaced.
Who would ever forget, when troops from all
over the world would come to our rescue, :

Haiyan/Yolanda

The Troops

They paid us ATTENTION

1. The NGOs
2. United Nations
3. Missionary group
across the globe
4. Our National,
Provincial and
Municipal
Government
5. And All others
Who would ever
forget?

After the typhoons

graceful dance, we
shall get back on
feet and move on .
The suppose 100
Cacao trees and
the bounty
chocolates it shall
yield, there
remained 1 Cacao
tree, a real beauty.

Alone but not at all

Farm Rehabilitation
Out of the 20 hectar land area of the suppose
plantation, the farm rehabilitation was
downgraded to 3000 sq. meters. Cash flow was
never enough in times of rehabilitating nature
after a stormy day. It always seems like a long
day and sailing is slow amid the vastness of the
ocean.
One has to set forth initiatives to recover from
disaster. We can never wait for so longtime but
get back on our feet.

The INITIATVES
Agropower , Instalink and DOJO
Organics has been very helpful. The
intercrops are back.
1. Replanting in the farm,
2. Consider Organic farming for a
healthier lifestyle and soil
rejuvenation,
3. Further and expand potential
Partnerships,
4. The Plantacion de Sikwate Cacao
Program
And Most of all, the Villa Maria Farm
can only be thankful to have not only
regained its Cacao plantation but
now with the following:
1.Cacao seedling Nursery, 5000 pcs
(old school set up)

The likes of:

1.BR & Randie Organic Farm, Pan-ay
Capiz, 83 ha
2.Bato Farm, Roxas City, 50 ha
3.
Dales Farm Jamindan , 500
ha.
4.Teddys Farm Roxas City, 18 ha
How we did it? The Plantacion de
Sikwate did it for us and therefore
we now have Plantacion de Sikwate
Capiz Chapter.
