Kayla Mutch

Grade 6

October 6, 2015
Religion

1:06-1:59
St. Patrick

Provincial Outcomes:
Following the Decision Point pilot program. It does not
directly correlate with Albertas Religion curriculum, but is
supported by GPCSD.
Learning Goals:
I can understand how Moses is a light for his people and a
prophet of God.
I can explain free will.
I can share what I have learned so far from the Decision
Point videos with another person.
Lesson Rationale:
In order to fully grasp this lesson, students will need to have
prior knowledge and understanding of Decision Point videos
1.1-1.5.
The focus of the lesson today is a short video recapping how
God has a plan for us, but we need to make the right choices;
do you want to be the best-version-of-yourself or some
second-rate-version-of-yourself?
We will work on summarizing previous videos and what stuck
with you.
Materials, Resources, and Technology:

Decision Point workbook:

SmartBoard
Library windows
Window Writer markers
Learning Cycle:
Engaging question: God wants good things for you! Jesus
wants to help you live life to the fullest. If you were living life
to the fullest, how would our life be different?
Exploration and Explanation: Watch session 1.5 Decision
Point video. Write comments, questions, reflection. Journal

page from Decision Point workbook.

Expansion: In small groups, review the videos we have
watched so far by writing short summaries. Share with whole
group. Pick 1-3 things that stuck with you from the videos we
have watched. Write them on the library windows. Take the
time to read and comment on what other people have written.
For example,God is like a navigation system. If we follow
the path he has planned for us, we will end up where we need
to be. This really stuck with me, too. I like the metaphor of
Gods path for us to a GPS.
Evaluation: I will be assessing based on participation (group
work whole class), and thoughtfulness on what stuck with
you activity.
Teacher:
While students are working, circle around and ask questions to
groups and facilitate, checking to make sure students
understand. We are not moving on until students grasp
concepts.
Lead group discussion.
Encourage students to participate in what stuck with you;
give helpful suggestions when needed/prompt.
Accommodations:
Have William participate in mostly discussion based; have him
draw what stuck with him; scribe with EA; work in inclusive
groups.
Assessment:
Journal (formative)
Group work (check-in/formative)
Participating in discussions and what stuck with you
(formative)
