Goals:
Students will be able to explain what happened around the
time of the First Thanksgiving.

Objectives:
Content/Knowledge:
Students will understand different ways to learn about a
topic.

Process/Skills:
Students will understand that sharing is an important part
of learning and excepting others cultures.

Values/Dispositions:
Students will understand the value of excepting others
cultures.

Rationale:
Because students need to learn about and understand how
the first people came into America and celebrated.

Standards:
State Illinois Common Core or Learning Standards
18.A.1: Compare characteristics of culture as reflected in
language, literature, the arts, traditions and institutions.

Logical/Mathematical

Logical/Mathematical
Students will learn about the pilgrims and the
First Thanksgiving. They will be given dates
and times that these events may have
occurred for the students that like having the
number sense for things. We will also talk
about how you need to respect other peoples
cultures and the logical reasoning between
why you should respect others as well.

Verbal/Linguistic

Verbal/Linguistic
This will go along with the visual/spatial type
of learning.
This information will be read out loud as well
as handed out in a worksheet.
We will focus on the 3 boats that the Pilgrims
came over on and where they came from
This will also be a focus for the students in
their spelling words for the week

Musical/Rhythmic

Musical/Rhythmic
This will go along to the body/kinesthetic
We will sing the Christopher Columbus
rhyme and clap along to it for music and
rhythm
We will also sing along the Pilgrim song

Visual/Spatial

Visual/Spatial
This will go along with the verbal/linguistic
type of learning.
This information will be read out loud as well

This is where we will talk about the way that
the Native Americans grew different plants
and food
We will also briefly talk about how to care for
the plants and the environment
