GENERAL
The Liquid Penetrant Examination Method is an effective means for detecting
discontinuities, which are open to the surface of nonporous metals & other
materials (ferrous & nonferrous metals). Cracks, seams, laps, porosity &
laminations are defects typically detectable by this method of testing.

Application
Examination will be done according to ASME V article 6 + SE 165; ASME
VIII & SNT-TC-IA

Person
The Person who will do the test will be qualified & certified from ASNT
(SNT-TC-IA) LEVEL II.

Type
Solvent removable Dye Penetrant shall be used.

Surface Preparation
The surface must be cleaned from all dirt, grease, scale, welding flux, weld
spatter, paint, oil & other extraneous matter that could obscure surface
opening.
All adjacent test area within 1 inch at least shall be dry.

Examination Steps
1- Application of penetrant
Prentrant shall be used by spraying on test area (welding area). Wet surface
shall be allowed from (10-15) minutes before removing the penetrant. (Dwell
time) or as according to instruction of the manufacture.
2- Removal of Excess Penetrant
By wiping the surface with clean dry clothes we will remove the excess
penetrant (3-5) min.
3- Application of Developer

Spraying area inspected with a thin layer coat from the developer.
Developing time from (5 to 15) minutes before the interpretation.
Evaluation
The test area shall be adequately illuminated & evaluation of indications shall
be in accordance with the owner specs and code.

Post Cleaning
After finishing from DIP exam we will remove the DIP material from the
examined metal by brushing & cleaner.

Documents
After finishing from exam we will submit the PT report to the client for his
approval & here attached the form of PT report that will be used in the project.
