denser, and causes reduction in the medial
and Lateral temporal lobe.

Who discovered it and

Dr. Emile Kraepelin discovered
Schizophrenia in 1887 and
when?
described the sickness as Dementia Praecox, since the
word Schizophrenia was not known at the time.

The cause of Schizophrenia?

Many think the cause of Schizophrenia is a combination of genetics and the environments
contributions to the development of the disorder. Also certain brain chemicals like
neurotransmitters called dopamine, and glutamate, may also contribute to schizophrenia.

Schizophrenia diagnoses
There is no test that can make a schizophrenia diagnosis. Doctors usually
diagnose by interviewing with the patient, and the family members. A psychiatrist
is usually involved in the diagnosis procedures because they have the best
experience with schizophrenia.

Symptoms
Some symptoms of Schizophrenia include:
Delusions- False beliefs that are not based in reality.
Hallucinations- Usually involve seeing or hearing things that do not exist.
Disorganized Thinking (Speech)- Effective communication can be impaired,
and answers to questions may be partially or completely unrelated.
Extremely Disorganized or Abnormal Motor Behavior- Ranges in many
different ways, from childlike behavior, to unpredictable agitation.
Withdrawal from friends and family
A drop in performance at school

Is it contagious?
No Schizophrenia is not contagious, but it does
run in the family.

Treatment of Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia requires lifelong treatment, even when symptoms are not
showing. Treatment with medication and psychosocial therapy can help
manage the condition. During crisis situations, hospitalization may be
required.
Some Atypical Antipsychotics can also be given to help the treatment, but it
can never be fully cured:
Clozapine (Clozaril)
Olanzapine (Zyprexa
Risperidone (Risperdal)

Does Schizophrenia disrupt

Schizophrenia
just affects
the behavior of an

individual, they way they think, and the way
they see the world.

Why is it important to know?

Its very important to know about Schizophrenia because it
triggers many different memories in the past, or gives off
different feelings, and emotions. David Berkowitz, would see
black dogs barking out, in order to get permission to kill people.
It is vital to know about this illness, because it can help you look
for someone suffering with Schizophrenia and get them the
treatment they need.

Recent News
Man with name of Beezow Doo-Doo Zoppitybob-bob-bob gets arrested who
suffers from schizophrenia. He got arrested for possession of marijuana,
trying to run away from an officer, biting the officers finger, trying to stab
the officer with a pen, and even after that he still resisted after being tazed
twice. He changed his name from Jeffrey Drew Wilshke, To Beezow Doo-Doo
Zoppitybop=bop=bop , because the name has a meaning. His first name
means The explosion of awareness of the interconnectedness of the infinite
love of the universe. Doo-doo Means, The struggle of our daily lives with
that awareness, that with love comes chaos., and his last name means, the
outcome of that struggle, which is often ironic, especially because all life
ends in death.
