soldier. They also carried short, double sided swords and daggers.
Their shields were made of three layers of thick wood,wrapped in
leather with an iron rim at the top and bottom.

leather straps to protect the upper body, under this the soldier wore a tunic
of wool. Officials got another kind of armour that was connected with their
helmet, it was called a tortoise. Officials also greaves guards to protect their
ankles, they also wore a red tunic under their armour.

and protected the empires perimeter. They also built forts for battles.

We are directing a show called 1001 ways to survive, thrive, and stay alive. This source shows that they brought
weapons such as axes and hammers. The soldiers wore armour to get protection from their opponents and officials
got safer armour that completely protected them. It also tells people how soldiers helped Rome become victorious.
By winning, they can get things like land and power. They kept conquered people under control, and built forts for
battles. Soldiers brought picks, axes, a saw, and cooking utensils, and the stakes they needed to build a camp.
Soldiers brought heavy packages that had grains in them to last about 15 days. They need to use these tools to
create things like places to stay whilst traveling.
