My PLT (Personalized Learning Task)
It is possible to state that there were two main aspects affecting the decision on what
would be my topic for my personalized learning task. The first aspect is the fact that chess is
becoming one of my favorite games, helping me develop my patience thinking abilities while
still making it an enjoyable experience. The other aspect that helped my decision was the fact
that Im still a beginner chess player, seeking to help not only other how to learn chess, but to
improve what I know and still be able to learn more from this experience. As I planned to create
a chess guide to help others learn chess, my decision was to create a website, as a way to dispose
the information correctly and clearly. As chess is one of the oldest games to be still played and
such a great way to improve our abilities not only in game but in life, my decision to do a chess
guide also focused to help people to improve the society in which they live. To create my chess
guide website though, I used many sources. While most of them were chess websites from the
internet, I also decided to seek guidance of chess players, such as my mentor and ISC Teacher,
Mr. Shaddock. While searching for information in books and on the internet, I stumbled across
many kinds of information, such as tips for really experienced players and also unnecessary
information, on how to set up the board for example. Even though doubts like these might be
present in some beginners chess players, it is a information that they can easily find on the
internet. My main goal was to focus on strategies and how to get better playing the game.
Searching for information however, made me stumbled across some really useful tips and tricks,
such as new strategies and examples on how can you affect your opponent in a psychological
way, such as looking directly into their eyes.
Even though the PLT was one of the most important projects that we had to do this year,
we still had to focus on all of the other subjects taught in 10th grade. However, as the 360

Wildcat teachers allowed us a great deal of time to understand and develop our task at school, it
was easier for me to create my personal project. Those classes given to us at school also allowed
for time not to be a problem. Since we had so much time to create your projects at school, it
wasnt necessary for me to develop my thoughts and ideas at home. As a main strategy, my focus
was to use every class as much as possible, seeking not to take work home. At first, an outcome
predicted was to be presenting a blog with a chess board. But luckily, I decided to go much
deeper, even creating an entire website dedicated to my chess guide.
To implement my strategy of using the classes at school to create a successful project, I
focused all of my time at those classes to develop my project. I decided to move always from my
friends and have a time only for myself and my project, affecting both of us positively. The
major technique that I focused during the development of my personal project was to understand
the minds of those starting to learn who to play chess. Certainly this was my major challenge. As
Ive already learned what are the basic concepts of chess are and Im already advanced at a
certain point in the terms of strategies, I had to set my mind back to understand what a beginner
chess player might think and doubt. At the start, my chess guide was supposed to be at the format
of a blog, however, while developing my project I decided that a complete website would be
much more helpful to those learning, since it would display the information in a more clear and
organized way. At the end, my chess guide ended up being displayed in a website, allowing those
seeking guidance and understanding to do so in a much precise and concise manner.
I would easily say that Ive learned many thing while creating my PLT. However, the
aspect that most brought my attention to was the fact that it is hard sometimes to understand the
point of view of others. While creating my website, there were time that I thought the
information I was displaying was unnecessary, since I already knew it. Even though I already

knew how to process the information displayed, I had to understand that the website was not
meant for me, but instead for those interested in learning chess and getting involved in such a
beautiful game. After understand that aspect, it was possible for me to complete my work and be
satisfied with it, understanding that if someone is interested in learning chess, my website will be
truly helpful. To complement those aspects, I think that the major strength of my website is how
easily and effective it might be to those learning how to play chess.
