Dear parents/caregivers,

My name is Michelle Cruickshank, and I will be a preservice teacher in

your childs Chemistry class for the remainder of this term. I am currently
undertaking a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning part-time
through Charles Darwin University, and this will be my final school
placement before completing this degree. Concurrently I am also working
towards my PhD in Chemical Science at the University of Adelaide.
I am an Old Scholar of Mercedes, having graduated from the IB Program in
2008. I then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science (Molecular and
Drug Design) with a double major in Chemistry at the University of
Adelaide, graduating in 2011. Following this I completed an Honours
degree, attaining First Class and entered into the PhD program. After
discovering great satisfaction and enjoyment in teaching the university
practical classes, I decided to pursue teaching as a full-time career. I have
done three two week placements previously, at Mercedes College and
Adelaide High School.
This term, I will be taking your students through the units on Quantitative
Chemistry (maths in Chemistry) and Organic Chemistry (molecules
containing carbon). I have an excellent grounding in both topics and use
them every day in my PhD lab work.
I look forward to teaching to getting to know your child this term. If you
have any questions, please feel free to contact me through Dr. Nicholas
Head.
Yours sincerely,
Michelle Cruickshank.
