Research in the
Community Night
June 8, 2016
5:30 to 7pm

Welcome to Research Night! Twelve weeks ago,

twenty-two sophomores entered Research in The
Community, a class where student are given the freedom
to explore and learn about a topic of their choice. The
goals are to learn to manage a long-term project, to
develop independent research skills and then to compile
the results in a paper and presentation. The topics
explore issues significant to the students communities
and so are wide ranging: from new cancer treatments to
transgender rights to the use of therapy dogs in
schools. Students in two sections of this course dove
into these topics and many more. Each student has put a
great deal of time and thought into accumulating their
findings into a presentation for you. Tonight they will
share with you the valuable information they have
discovered through diligent research.
Inside this program you will find the name of
each student and the name of their presentation. One
class produced video presentations, the other class will
give live presentations. Each student will present their
work twice. The schedule for the presentation of their
work is on the back cover of the program.
Please ask questions, and show your appreciation for
their work. We hope you find their hard work engaging!
Enjoy and thank you for coming!
