Summary
In this article, the authors focus on the implementation and effectiveness of
technology in the classroom. In order to demonstrate the importance of technology, the
authors first describe how technology has become a fundamental part of society. An
example of the impact technology has had in our world can be seen in the way Apple
products have become their own ecosystem. In essence, Apple is an entire infrastructure
that strengthens the links between its exiting platforms. In addition, they focus on
building new platforms that will rely on other state of the art Apple products. It is
important to note that the younger generations, including todays student population can
navigate comfortably in the latest and most modern technological environment. Students
ability to effectively adapt and learn in technologically advanced settings, affirms the
importance of the efficient integration of technology within the classroom.
Although the use of technology has become commonplace in the world today,
educators must be intentional and deliberate in the use of technology in the classroom.
When technology is used effectively, students will be exposed to a larger variety of
learning methods. The benefit of technology in the classroom is that it can be adapted to
fit the unique learning style of the student and therefore create a successful leaning
experience for each learner. There are a number of computer applications, such as Google
docs and others that can be used to enhance the in class learning experience.
Overall, although there may be a stigma connected to technology as it can be seen
as a potential distraction from learning in the classroom. However, if used appropriately,
technology can be a an effective tool, which can afford the students a number of learning
opportunities. Technologies can helps students learn how to think critically, and work

collectively to overcome obstacles they may encounter. A point of emphasis underscored

in the article is focused on the responsibility teachers have in the appropriate application
of technology. Although tech companies may be the creators, teachers or the users of
technology have a responsibility to dictate how tech tools are use. Understanding the role
of teachers in a technological world is fundamental to the success of students.

Reflection
I believe this paper pointed out very important and specific key points. Although
technology can be distraction form learning or other aspects of school, or work, it can
also be used as an important tool. In the same way the integration of the Ipad and its
applications have found their way into todays society, technology can also find its way
into the classroom. Proper implementation of technology can transform this tool to meet
specific learning needs of each student.
However before technology can be incorporated into the classroom, schools and
teachers must first learn how to use devices and application to adequately impact the
overall learning experience of students. As the article mentioned, I believe teachers today
and future teachers like myself, have a duty to continuously demand technology to meet
the needs of students. I believe teachers should advocate for their students unique
learning styles, and utilize effective resources found in current technology. The
application of the most up to date technology will help students succeed academically
and become equipped to effectively contribute in their future work settings.
