Summary
This article explores the variety of technology mediums and how
these are being used in the world today. Holland and Holland explore
the importance of competence in technology as well as how it can
impact the lives of students as they develop academically. The article
explores nineteen different areas in which technology has become a
core foundation of our everyday lives. As a result, it has become crucial
for students to become competent in their use of technology to remain
current and relevant in our continuously developing technological
world.
The article also explores three major methods in which teachers
can be empowered as they integrate technology into their schools and
classrooms. These recommendations include growth, new ideas and
attention to innovations. By becoming aware of these three areas,
teachers can not only integrate technology but also stay up to date
with new, innovative methods where technology can be used to
instruct students in the classroom. Because technology has become
such a fundamental part of out society, students have learned to adapt
and associate with technology-based content.
It is important for teachers to be in tune to our evolving
technological world and the way in which society uses technology in
various settings, including the workplace as well as in social settings.
Teachers must not only seek to educate their students, but they must

also be intentional about using technology in ways that make a
positive impact on teaching methods as well as influence students to
ultimately become creators, producers, and prosumers.. Teachers
can utilize technology effectively to help their students succeed
academically.

Reflection
I found this article to be quite direct and to the point. I enjoyed
how the authors were able to explore multiple ways in which
technology has been used and will continue to be used in the future. I
believe this topic is important because it gives readers the opportunity
to understand how crucial it is to remain technologically competent.
Technological knowledge and skill will be critical as we educate future
generations.
I believe understanding and providing teachers the tools and the
empowerment for integration of technology is key for the success of
students and teachers. Overall I believe this paper is informative and
brings light to the realities of our changing world. Understanding the
importance of technology can help teachers intentionally implement
and use technologies in their classes while at the same time guiding
their students to success in a changing world.
