Explain that the place that you are showing is a
continent which is right at the south of the planet.
It is a very cold place and there are more
penguins than any other birds there. Elicit that

Show children a compass and ask them what is it


for. Explain that a compass is a device for finding
direction with a needle that can move easily and
that always points to magnetic north.
Demonstrate it. Show them a picture with a
compass and say the directions. Encourage
students to repeat them after you.

you are going to tell them directions and they
have to draw a path using their pens. They have
